Checkout Policy

Kinder = 1 book
1st -3rd = 2 books
4th-5th = 3 books

Our school operates on a block schedule, so the library instructs three classes a day. Students come to the library for classes every other week. To encourage students to read daily, the library has an open check out policy. Students may visit the library anytime during the school day. Books may be checked out for a two week period and can be renewed twice.

Overdue Policy

We do not charge fines for overdue books, but we do withhold check out privileges from students who have overdue materials.  These students are allowed to borrow from the Read Me, Don’t Keep Me collection which is on the honor system.  This instills responsibility in our students and respect for others’ rights to use materials in a timely manner, while providing the student with something to read.

If the book is lost or returned damaged, it must be replaced.  Payment can be made in the form of cash (exact amount) or check made out to Vaughan Elementary.  Alternatively, if you would like to replace the book, it must be replaced with a book in the same format.  Please make sure to look everywhere before paying or replacing the book as there are no refunds.
