Math Take Home Bags!
We are beginning math take home bags this quarter. Your child should have come home with a blue draw string bag with a math game inside. Please play and enjoy this game with your child at home and return it on the day marked on the calendar inside. Our second round of bags will be returned on April 6th. A new bag will be sent home with a different game the following day! These bags are a great way for you to practice spiraling math concepts with your child at home. :) Enjoy!
Homework and Agendas:
In second grade, we will have homework on Monday-Thursday. Every night students are expected to read 20 minutes and then record their reading on the Reading Log in their Homework Folder. At this point in the year, students should be writing at least two sentences in response to what they read. In addition to the reading, students will practice review math skills every day. Each day has a different topic. On Mondays, students practice counting coins and money. On Tuesdays, students practice telling time and reading clocks. On Wednesdays, student practice solving word problems. On Thursdays, students will practice something related to what we are studying in math at the time.
Please be sure that students complete their homework every night in order for them to have continued practice in these important skills. Their homework should be kept in their Homework Folder and returned daily.
Students also have agendas this year where they will record their homework for the night as well as any upcoming tests. Agendas should be returned to school daily.
