Attention parents and family members! We hope you are enjoying the fun and engaging math game that came home in your Kindergartener’s Math Bag! Please remember, this round of Math Bags are due February 3rd! Keep an eye out for a NEW math game coming soon!
Kindergarten Kitchen Careers
We had an exciting day here! We were invited to go on a (Kindergarten exclusive!) PRIVATE TOUR of our school's kitchen for the Kindergarten Kitchen Careers experience! We took a tour with our wonderful cafeteria manager! She pointed out the tools, utensils, and ingredients that our school chefs use when making our yummy breakfasts and lunches each day! We also saw special areas of the kitchen that we had not seen before, like the storage room and freezer! Your Kindergartener will be coming home with a chef's hat on today! Be sure to ask what they thought about Kindergarten Kitchen Careers!
Must have Magnets!
The scientists in our classroom are going to be having a great time exploring magnets for the next two weeks! We will be participating in hands on EXPERIMENTS to determine what objects ARE in fact attracted to magnets and what are not! We will be making predictions and observations! Ask your little one to tell you what they have learned about magnets! Can he or she identify items in your home that contain magnets? Check it out! :)
Counting to 100
Throughout the day we will continue to practice rote counting to 100 (by 1's!) However, now... we are adding SKIP COUNTING to the mix!
We will now be practicing to ALSO count to 100 by 5's and 10's!
Please continue to practice this skill at home!

Attention parents and family members! Did you know that singing songs is a GREAT way for our Kindergarten students to learn and retain information?!
We LOVE to sing in our class! Often times, we sing songs that help us with the objective that we are learning! I will send home the lyrics to some of these fun and educational songs in your child's Friday Folder! Enjoy singing these songs at home! :)
Burr! It sure is getting cold outside! Please remember to dress your child appropriately for the weather each day! We will continue to go outside for recess (as long as it is not too cold!) Please remember to send him or her in with a warm jacket, gloves, etc.! Thank you for your help in keeping everyone warm during the winter months!
Practice Your Patterns!
This month we are learning about patterns! This is a fun objective that can be practiced a number of ways at home, too! See how many patterns your child can create! Can he or she complete a pattern that you have created?!
Examples of different types of patterns include:
You will see that your Kindergartener will be proud of his/her patterns!
Dear parents and family members,
Are you interested in a fun volunteer opportunity in your child's classroom? If so, please sign up to be a "Mystery Reader!"
"Mystery Readers" will come in during a time slot on Friday's. He or she will get to read a story to the class! I will tell the students that a "Mystery Reader" will be joining us… but they will not know who it is until YOU arrive!
Please contact me if you are interested! Thank you for volunteering!
Sight words are words that we see frequently throughout all levels of texts. These words can not always be sounded out, they are words that we should be able to identify in a snap! In your child's folder this week, he or she will be bringing home a list of sight words (that are specifically on his or her reading level!) Along with this list of sight words, will be a set of flashcards to help him or her practice these words at home. Please help your little one identify these high frequency sight words, as the ability to read and write these words will have a positive impact across all content areas! Thank you for your support!
This Monday, November 7th, we will be holding parent/teacher conferences! I am very much looking forward to meeting with you to discuss all of the hard work that your little one is doing each and every day in Kindergarten! Unable to make it in on the 7th? Please contact me to schedule an alternate date/time!
Our school is participating in a program that donates food to less fortunate families during the holiday season. We are collecting non-perishable food items to be donated! If you have any items that you would like to donate, please send them in with your child! Thank you!
