Dear Elizabeth Vaughan Elementary School Staff, Students, and Families:
It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the newly appointed principal of Elizabeth Vaughan Elementary School. I will officially assume my post as Vaughan’s principal on July 1, 2014, but have already begun working with Mrs. Taylor and Mr. Mahalchick to ensure a seamless transition and to learn of all of the wonderful nuances, practices, and expectations of the Vaughan Wildcats!
As an experienced administrator, I recognize that no educational success occurs without a strong partnership with the staff, students, and families. I look forward to building these relationships over the coming months and to continuing the tradition of excellence as a World-Class school that is already prevalent at Elizabeth Vaughan Elementary.
Professionally, I have served as an educational administrator for the past 12 years in PrinceWilliamCounty and FairfaxCountyPublic Schools. In my most recent position, I served as the principal at Westridge Elementary. Before moving to Westridge, I served as the principal at Leesylvania Elementary for the seven years. In these positions, I learned the importance of creating a cohesive team that works together to serve all children. Prior to becoming an educational administrator, I taught in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, and Virginia in positions ranging from kindergarten through fourth grade.
I have accomplished many personal and professional goals during my tenure in the field of education, including successfully serving as a school principal, completing all course work for a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Virginia, being named Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year for 2004 by the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals and Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, teaching professional development courses for educators, and serving on county level committees to hone our practices in student learning and assessment.
On a personal note, I have lived in PrinceWilliamCounty for the past 15 years, and my wife, Karin, is also an educational administrator in FairfaxCounty. I am the father of two boys, Austin and Parker, who both had the opportunity to receive a World-Class Education in Prince William County Public Schools; I hope to offer the same opportunity to each of our Vaughan Wildcats!
Once again, I am excited and honored to be joining your team as the new principal at Vaughan Elementary. My official start date is July 1, 2014, but please do not hesitate to contact me before then with questions for the coming school year. I can be reached at email@example.com. I look forward to working with our community, staff, and students very soon!
